Sludge dewatering in agriculture

For agricultural sludges with a low solids content, the sludge may need to be thickened first on a belt or drum thickener before dewatering on a belt press. Some types of belt presses have a sufficiently long gravity dewatering zone and therefore do not need to thicken the sludge before entering the belt press. When thickening sludge on a thickener, filter belts with high dewatering speed are usually needed, but the size of the holes in the fabric may also be an important parameter with respect to
the desired filtrate purity. These requirements must be taken into account when selecting the appropriate type of filter belt. For sludge dewatering on a belt press, a woven belt with a stainless steel clipper seam or a spiral fabric with a plastic spiral joint can generally be used. The advantage of the spiral fabric is the higher resistance to deformation and falding. However, the spiral fabric is not always suitable for sludges with a high organic content or for other sludges that are difficult to press. Please contact us for more information.
